My Friend's Place

My Friend's Place is a nonprofit organization working to inspire and assist homeless and high-risk youth to build stable, self-sufficient lives. In collaboration with the leading social services providers and educational institutions in the region as well as over 500 volunteers, we offer a free and comprehensive continuum of care that combines emergency necessities with therapeutic, health, employment and education assistance, and creative arts services through three programmatic areas: Safe Haven Program, Transformative Education Program, Health & Well Being Program Hours: Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Opportunities

We need individual volunteers who can make an on-going commitment in the following areas of need:

  • Administrative/Fundraising: Help us build awareness about homeless youth through data entry, bulk mailings, special events, and online networking initiatives.
  • Dayroom: Help build trust with our youth by serving lunches, playing board games, conducting art projects or assisting in workshop facilitation.
  • Educational Workshops: Share a special talent or skill with our youth. Assist or direct workshops ranging from employment and education to the arts.

Qualifications:

Volunteers must be 18 years of age; no special educational background is required but must have good communication skills, common sense, and good problem solving skills. Volunteers, who provide professional services, must show proof of certification and proof of malpractice insurance. Volunteers must be interviewed and fingerprinted and must undergo training and engage in supervision.
